’10 Pairs of Unhelpful Sunglasses’👉 Your view is obscured. One step, ANY steps forward are fraught with the potential for something to go wrong.🤔 But what can you expect when you’re wearing 10 pairs of ‘unhelpful’ sunglasses? And worse still, for 40 years, you didn’t even know they existed.👉 This is the challenge, Ryan Harland , goes through every minute, of every day, 365 days of the year.Years of childhood trauma and physical abuse from S.D, ‘Sperm Donor’, a term he calls his dad, because even after 40 years, and his dad’s death, the mental and emotional impact left behind is so deeply ingrained, this now the way in Ryan can ‘acknowledge’ what has happened and take steps forward with the lasting impact of what one man caused.👉 Ryan has lived with shame, fear, and anger for much if his life.Shame because, aged 19, he should have been able to stop S.D. from physically abusing him.Fear because the unpredictability of S.D.’s actions meant he always had to ‘hide’.Anger because where were all the moments you’re ‘meant’ to have with a Dad.👉 This prolonged trauma and physical abuse, has left Ryan wearing, 10 pairs of very ‘unhelpful’ sunglasses every single day.👉 His diagnosis of borderline personality disorder is just one of the ‘labels’ Ryan has which is the source of his ‘unhelpful sunglasses’, he admits himself, he is uncertain whether this was there from birth or because of the trauma he has experienced at the hands of S.D.🧡 I have had the great fortune to talk with Ryan, more than once, and to read his book ‘Riding the Storm’ – here is a man absolutely passionate about sharing a message of hope, that in spite of everything someone, who should be protecting you, takes away from you, you can move forward from the pain, to create purpose and a passion for life and living again, and to truly flourish.Of course, Ryan’s struggles continue, the sunglasses are still there, whatever the weather, but the passion within him to let others know they are not alone in their pain, is an inspiration in and of itself.Remember to join the growing number of listeners to Yowah Radio.Yowah Radio is your well-being and happiness station - online 24/7, bringing the feel-good feeling to every day.More information about Laura.

In this episode of Glass Half Full Steve Twynham talks with Joe Templin the author of Everyday Excellence.
If we invest just a bit more of ourselves than that minimum, we can improve daily. Slowly, inexorably, polishing the jewel that is us. It is the little daily sacrifices and choices that compound over years and decades to make us priceless sparkling multifaceted works of nature and nurture. So today, make the better choices. That’s all you have to do. Just do what you should, today.About Joe.
Joe Templin has led an eclectic life.
As one of six kids (the only normal one, he insists) growing up in a small town and spending time on the family farm, Joe’s parents (John and Barb) instilled a love of learning, the outdoors, and a healthy disrespect for authority while still simultaneously embracing traditional values of hard work and “love thy neighbour but mind your own dang business.” This is Joe’s foundation.
He was severely asthmatic but through his work ethic and love of challenge has become a martial artist and ultradistance runner. He had a speech impediment but has built a career around communicating. This habit of overcoming limitations is a theme in his life and his writings.
Joe has three hooligans (Danny, Liam, and Colin) and is a very proud member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, having served multiple times as President of his local Foundation and Chapter Advisor. He has also served on the local, State, and National levels for NAIFA, is a Cubmaster (worst one ever if you ask his boys), and is involved with his local Autism Society. Serving others is important to Joe, because of how his parents raised him.

Leadership Coach, Speaker, and Author Tim Roberts talked about his new book Break The Mould and much more when he joined Jo Thackwray on the mid-morning show. Are you ready to Be The Best Version of You?
Are you fed up with corporate bullshit?
Do you want a better way to lead authentically?
Tim was just like most leaders today, miserable stressed, and exhausted. He hated how much of his weekend would be spent dreading Monday instead of being able to relax and enjoy time with his family, and cat.As a leader he had to “act” a certain way, “comply” with, and “enforce” things he didn’t believe in. Even worse, he had subconsciously picked up all the management styles of those around him. To his horror, he realised he was in serious danger of becoming a knobhead boss (being punched by an employee was a wake-up call).Enough was enough. He realised that it always starts with you and committed to finding a better way. It was time to break the mould. The plan he put in place allowed him to feel happy at work for the first time in years, inspire his team, and their performance went off the chart. In this book, he shares the practical coaching techniques and exercises he uses with leaders to break the mould and become truly authentic and inspiring.
Would you like to wake up on a Monday morning feeling like you actually want to go to work?
Are you ready to become the best version of you?Enjoy the podcast.
