Jordans Space with Steve Phillip -Featuring special guest Ellie Marie Scott - mental health & suicide prevention advocate, and founder of The Georgia Bird Foundation.
In this episode of Jordan's Space Steve Phillip and the team from The Jordan Legacy are joined by Ellie Marie Scott
In May 2017, while living & working in Cyprus, Ellie found her best friend Georgia in her hotel room. Georgia had taken her own life. Both had a love for dance & music, and had been friends since childhood.
It's an incredibly tough experience losing someone you love, especially being the person finding them and realising they'd died by suicide, and also at such a young age to experience this. Ellie talks about this experience in the show, and the impact it had on her.
As is usually the case, it's a 'story' of great sadness but with much to uplift us & inspire us in terms of Ellie's life after loss.
Today, Ellie is the founder of The Georgia Bird Foundation, which aims to improve mental health & wellbeing through the power of music.
This year, Ellie directed their choir to create a special song which was performed at the BatonOfHopeUK tour in London & Sheffield - you can hear this at the end of this week's broadcast 💙
Ellie is the Living Well Collaborative Coordinator for her home town of Chesterfield and has authored a book - 'Reasons to Stay.'
